Pope Leo XIV met at the Vatican with U.S. singer-songwriter Bob Dylan, who is on tour in Italy and performing in Rome. The two met briefly at the Vatican Nov. 4. The pope gave Dylan a rosary, and the singer offered his memoir, "Chronicles: Volume One." Pope Leo had once quoted from an unpublished protest song by Bob Dylan in the foreword of a book collecting the pope's talks and reflections on peace since his election. Citing Dylan, the pope wrote about the singer telling the atomic bomb, "I hate you cause yer man-made and man-owned an' man-handled." The pope followed that quote by writing in the book, "Disarmed and Disarming: Peace Is a Gift," that the combination of the cyber domain and global rearmament impels each person to ask whether the human species will continue to inhabit the Earth.
