3 Ιούνη 1970: Όταν το «In Rock» των Deep Purple έβαζε φωτιά στα θεμέλια του hard rock Υπάρχουν δίσκοι που απλώς γνωρίζουν εμπορική επιτυχία. Υπάρχουν και κάποιοι άλλοι που λειτουργούν σαν εκρηκτικός μηχανισμός, ανατινάζοντας τα όρια μιας ολόκληρης μουσικής εποχής. Ένας τέτοιος δίσκος ήταν το Deep Purple in Rock, που κυκλοφόρησε στις 3 Ιούνη 1970 από τους Deep Purple. Μέχρι τότε το συγκρότημα είχε ήδη διαγράψει μια αξιοσημείωτη πορεία, όμως το «In Rock» σηματοδότησε μια πραγματική τομή. Με τη λεγόμενη σύνθεση «Mark II» –τον Ian Gillan στη φωνή, τον Roger Glover στο μπάσο, τον Ritchie Blackmore στην κιθάρα, τον Jon Lord στα πλήκτρα και τον Ian Paice στα ντραμς– οι Deep Purple εγκατέλειψαν οριστικά τις πιο ψυχεδελικές και συμφωνικές αναζητήσεις των προηγούμενων χρόνων και βούτηξαν με ορμή σε έναν ήχο πιο βαρύ, πιο επιθετικό, πιο ηλεκτρισμένο. Ακούγοντας σήμερα κομμάτια όπως το Speed King, το Child in Time ή το Into the Fire, γίνεται εύκολα αντιληπτό γιατί ο δίσκος αυτός θεωρείται ένας από τους ακρογωνιαίους λίθους του hard rock και πρόδρομος του heavy metal. 29 Μαΐου 1453 "Η Π ό λ ι ς E ά λ ω". Το πρωί της 29ης Μαΐου 1453, χιλιάδες στρατιώτες του Μωάμεθ εφόρμησαν στη σχεδόν ανυπεράσπιστη πόλη και την κατέλαβαν μέσα σε λίγες ώρες. Ο αυτοκράτορας Κωνσταντίνος Παλαιολόγος, που νωρίτερα απέκρουσε με υπερηφάνεια τις προτάσεις συνθηκολόγησης του Μωάμεθ, έπεσε ηρωικά μαχόμενος. Αφού έσφαξαν τους υπερασπιστές της Πόλης, οι Οθωμανοί Τούρκοι προέβησαν σε εκτεταμένες λεηλασίες και εξανδραποδισμούς. Μετα το δολοφονικο χτυπημα της 22ας Μαιου ο Γρηγορης Λαμπρακης αφήσε την τελευταία του πνοή τα ξημερώματα της 27ης Μαΐου 1963. Ήταν 51 ετών. «Επεσε ο μέγας δρυς στη γης, σε μέγα αγώνα - πουλιά και φύλλα στάθηκαν στον ουρανό η Ελλάδα τον εκράτησε στα δυο της γόνα, στο βαθυπόρφυρο του Μάη εσπερινό κι ενώ από τους πόρους της η οργή της αίμα ιδρώνει, τινάζεται όλη ανάμεσα στον άγιο λαό, κι ολόρθη τον υψώνει, μεσιανό καδρόνι, ψηλά, στο θόλο, στης Ειρήνης το ναό». Αθήνα, 27 Μάη 1963 Γιάννης Ρίτσος ................... «Χάνοντας τον Λαμπράκη, κερδίσαμε χιλιάδες νέους Λαμπράκηδες, χιλιάδες ήλιους που θα θερμαίνουν και θα φωτίζουν τη μνήμη του» Η οργή και ο πόνος ξέσπασαν. Διαδηλώσεις πραγματοποιήθηκαν στην Αθήνα, στον Πειραιά και τη Θεσσαλονίκη πριν την κηδεία. Στη συνέχεια η σορός του Λαμπράκη μεταφέρθηκε στο Ναό του Αγίου Ελευθερίου και εκτέθηκε σε λαϊκό προσκύνημα. Το απόγευμα της 28ης Μαΐου μια τεράστια λαοθάλασσα συνόδεψε τον Λαμπράκη στην τελευταία του κατοικία. Ένα πλήθος 500.000 ανθρώπων συγκεντρώθηκε στο Α” Νεκροταφείο για το «Ύστατο Χαίρε» και η συγκέντρωση μετατράπηκε σε διαδήλωση καταδίκης της δεξιάς κυβέρνησης του Κωνσταντίνου Καραμανλή και του Παλατιού. Η δολοφονία του Λαμπράκη προκάλεσε οξύτατη πολιτική κρίση, αλλά και διεθνή κατακραυγή, ενώ επιτάχυνε τις πολιτικές εξελίξεις. Ο Κωνσταντίνος Καραμανλής, αφού διερωτήθηκε «ποιος κυβερνάει αυτό τον τόπο;» εγκατέλειψε την πρωθυπουργία και την πολιτική τον Ιούνιο του 1963 και αποσύρθηκε στο Παρίσι. Χιλιάδες νέοι ίδρυσαν την πολιτική οργάνωση «Δημοκρατική Νεολαία Λαμπράκη», που έπαιξε καθοριστικό ρόλο στο προοδευτικό κίνημα της δεκαετίας του ’60. Πρώτος γραμματέας της οργάνωσης ανέλαβε ο Μίκης Θεοδωράκης. Ο πολιτικός χρόνος επιταχύνθηκε. Το παρακράτος συνέχισε ανενόχλητο τη δράση του μέχρι που έφτασε να γίνει κράτος την 21η Απριλίου 1967...... Φυσάει αδιαφορία, κοινωνικοπολιτικά θέματα
