62nd ANNIVERSARY On this date, 27 May 1963, 62 years ago, BOB DYLAN's second studio, "THE FREEWHEELIN' BOB DYLAN", was released through Columbia Records. • "THE FREEWHEELIN' BOB DYLAN" is recognised with ushering in a new age of popular music, specifically the singer-songwriter movement. The album was an important catalyst for change in both the civil rights and anti-war movements against Vietnam. The songs "BLOWIN' IN THE WIND" and "MASTERS OF WAR" on the album were particularly well-known as anthems for peace and equality in America. Interestingly, BOB DYLAN was just 22 years old when he wrote and recorded the songs for this album. According to multiple sources, Dylan struggled tremendously with the album, particularly the final selection of songs to be included.
