Βρίσκεται στο νησί της Κρήτης και χτίστηκε από τον προηγμένο Μινωικό πολιτισμό γύρω στο 1700 π.Χ., το Ανάκτορο της Κνωσσού περιέχει σημαντικές τεχνολογικές καινοτομίες πολύ πέρα από την εποχή του. Ένα από τα πιο εντυπωσιακά χαρακτηριστικά του ήταν ένα εξελιγμένο υδραυλικό σύστημα που περιελάμβανε κάτι πραγματικά αξιοσημείωτο: μια λειτουργική τουαλέτα με ξύλινο κάθισμα. On this day in 1985, the ZZ Top single “Legs” debuted on the UK Singles Chart at #42 (February 23) The song was released from the trio’s mega-successful 1983 LP “Eliminator”. “Eliminator” saw ZZ Top embrace the synthesizer as an instrument, which features heavily in this song, opening up the band to a new audience, but displeasing some fans of their more traditional 70s style rock. The classic video clip for “Legs" was the third installment of a trilogy of similarly themed videos shot by Tim Newman for “Eliminator”, and it won the MTV Video Music Award for Best Group. Dean Guitars created the pair of matching guitars shown in the clip, based on the Dean Z model, but painted white and covered in fluffy white sheepskin. Dean also painted the band's "ZZ " logo extending the length of each fretboard. The video was on heavy rotation on MTV and other video hit music shows of the day, which helped drive the single up the charts. Νίκος Καββαδίας – William George Allum Εγνώρισα κάποια φορά σ’ ένα καράβι ξένο έναν πολύ παράξενον Εγγλέζο θερμαστή όπου δε μίλαγε ποτέ κι ούτε ποτέ είχε φίλους και μόνο πάντα εκάπνιζε μια πίπα σκαλιστή. Όλοι έλεγαν μια θλιβερή πως είχε ιστορία κι όσοι είχανε στο στόκολο με δαύτον εργαστεί έλεγαν ότι κάποτες, απ’ το λαιμό ως τα νύχια, είχε σε κάποιο μακρινό τόπο στιγματιστεί. Είχε στα μπράτσα του σταυρούς, σπαθιά ζωγραφισμένα, μια μπαλαρίνα στην κοιλιά, που εχόρευε γυμνή κι απά στο μέρος της καρδιάς στιγματισμένην είχε με στίγματ’ ανεξάλειπτα μιαν άγρια καλλονή... Κι έλεγαν ότι τη γυναίκα αυτή είχε αγαπήσει μ’ άγριαν αγάπη, ακράτητη, βαθιά κι αληθινή· κι αυτή πως τον απάτησε με κάποιο ναύτη Αράπη γιατί ήτανε μια αναίσθητη γυναίκα και κοινή. Τότε προσπάθησεν αυτός να διώξει από το νου του την ξωτική που αγάπησε, τόσο βαθιά, ομορφιά κι από κοντά του εξάλειψεν ό,τι δικό της είχε, έμεινεν όμως στης καρδιάς τη θέση η ζωγραφιά. Πολλές φορές στα σκοτεινά τον είδανε τα βράδια με βότανα το στήθος του να τρίβει, οι θερμαστές... Του κάκου· γνώριζεν αυτός καθώς το ξέρουμ’ όλοι ότι του Αννάμ τα στίγματα δε βγαίνουνε ποτές... Κάποια βραδιά ως περνούσαμε από το Bay of Bisky, μ’ ένα μικρό τον βρήκανε στα στήθια του σπαθί. Ο πλοίαρχος είπε: "θέλησε το στίγμα του να σβήσει" και διάταξε στη θάλασσα την κρύα να κηδευθεί. Οι Ηνωμένες Πολιτείες πρότειναν το δικό τους σχέδιο ψηφίσματος με τίτλο «Path to Peace» Οι Ηνωμένες Πολιτείες, σε νέο σχέδιο ψηφίσματος της Γενικής Συνέλευσης του ΟΗΕ, δεν κατηγόρησαν τη Ρωσία για την έναρξη της σύγκρουσης στην Ουκρανία. Αντιθέτως, οι Ηνωμένες Πολιτείες πρότειναν το δικό τους σχέδιο ψηφίσματος με τίτλο «Path to Peace». Αποτελείται μόνο από τρία σημεία: 1)Η Γενική Συνέλευση θρηνεί για την τραγική απώλεια ζωών κατά τη διάρκεια της «ρωσο-ουκρανικής σύγκρουσης». 2)Ζητεί να τερματιστεί γρήγορα η «σύγκρουση» και ζητά μια διαρκή ειρήνη μεταξύ Ουκρανίας και Ρωσίας. 3)Ο κύριος σκοπός των Ηνωμένων Εθνών λέγεται ότι είναι η διατήρηση της διεθνούς ειρήνης και ασφάλειας και η ειρηνική επίλυση των διαφορών. Ταυτόχρονα, η Αμερική δεν χρησιμοποίησε τη συχνά χρησιμοποιούμενη δυτική γλώσσα περί «ρωσικής εισβολής στην Ουκρανία» και δεν ζήτησε μονομερή αποχώρηση των στρατευμάτων από το έδαφος της Ουκρανίας. Από τον Φεβρουάριο του 2022, η Γενική Συνέλευση πραγματοποιεί περιοδικά συνεδριάσεις της 11ης έκτακτης ειδικής συνόδου αφιερωμένης στην κατάσταση στην Ουκρανία. Στο πλαίσιο του, έχουν ήδη εγκριθεί έξι ψηφίσματα, που υποστηρίζουν τη θέση του Κιέβου και αγνοούν τις ανησυχίες της Ρωσίας. Ο Ντόναλντ Τραμπ επιτίθεται στον Βολοντίμιρ Ζελένσκι χαρακτηρίζοντάς τον «ποτέ εκλεγμένο δικτάτορα» και «μέτρια κωμικό» που κατάφερε να πάρει εκατοντάδες δισεκατομμύρια από τις Ηνωμένες Πολιτείες για «ένα πόλεμο που δεν θα κέρδιζε ποτέ». Αυτά είναι τα λόγια του Προέδρου των ΗΠΑ -για την κοινωνική του Αλήθεια- που απαντά στη δόση, προσθέτοντας: "Ο Ζελένσκι παραδέχεται ότι τα μισά χρήματα που του στείλαμε "λείπουν. "Αρνείται να προκηρύξει εκλογές, είναι πολύ χαμηλά στις ουκρανικές δημοσκοπήσεις και το μόνο πράγμα στο οποίο ήταν καλός ήταν να παίζει τον Μπάιντεν σαν βιολί. H ανάγκη του Τραμπ για μια “συνθηκολόγηση” πριν χαθούν όλα, κι όσο “αντέχει” η οικονομία των ΗΠΑ, είναι τέτοια που απόψε, με επίσημη δήλωση, “τέλειωσε” τον Ζελένσκι, χωρίς δισταγμό! Παράνομος ο ΝαρκοΦύρερ: “Ο Ζελένσκι δεν έχει κανένα δικαίωμα να είναι στο τραπέζι των διαπραγματεύσεων. Ήταν τριάμισι χρόνια και το μόνο που κατάφερε ήταν να καταστρέψει τη χώρα του. Δεν έχουν γίνει εκλογές, υπάρχει στρατιωτικός νόμος εκεί και -με πονάει που το λέω – το ποσοστό αποδοχής του μεταξύ των Ουκρανών είναι στο 4%!” Συντριβή αν συνεχιστεί ο ήδη χαμένος πόλεμος – Εξαρτόμαστε από το “έλεος” της Ρωσίας : “Οι Ρώσοι δεν έχουν χτυπήσει το Κίεβο ενώ θα μπορούσαν, με τους πυραύλους που διαθέτουν. Ο Ζελένσκι πρέπει να καταλάβει ότι οι Ρώσοι χτυπούν μόνο με το 20% του δυναμικού που διαθέτουν, κι όχι με το 100% και η Ουκρανία έχει υποστεί ζημιές μεγαλύτερες από ότι στη Γάζα. Όταν οι υποδομές και οι πόλεις έχουν ισοπεδωθεί, τι περιμένει ο Ζελένσκι;” Έτσι είναι… “Αφεντικό” είναι, καπιταλισμός και νόμος της αγοράς είναι, Απολύει τους “υπαλλήλους” του, όποτε θέλει! Δεν θα σκάσουμε και για τον … Ζελένσκι τώρα! και … κλέφτης ο Ζελένσκι – εκτός από “παράνομος” και που “δεν κατανοεί ότι έχασε”! It reached #8 on the UK Album Chart. A Hard Road proved to be every bit as powerful and innovative as the magnificent Bluesbreakers album, thanks in large part to Mayall’s discovery of Clapton’s equally brilliant replacement, Peter Green. Little did anyone know (except Green) that he would almost equal Clapton in the minds of fans and the cogniscenti. A one-of-a-kind player with a highly distinctive sound, Green makes his instrumental presence felt throughout A Hard Road, while delivering compelling lead vocals on “You Don’t Love Me” and “The Same Way.” Two instrumentals on this collection, Freddie King's "The Stumble" and Green's "The SuperNatural", clearly demonstrate the clean sound of his Gibson Les Paul. The legendarily haunting “The Supernatural” previews the guitarist’s groundbreaking work with the original incarnation of Fleetwood Mac, which he and fellow Bluesbreaker John McVie would form a few months later. With sterling support from bassist John McVie and drummer Aynsley Dunbar, the material here features such Mayall originals as “Hit the Highway,” “Leaping Christine” and the title track, along with the standout interpretations of tunes by Freddie King, Elmore James and Willie Cobbs. Ex-commercial artist Mayall also designed and painted the cover, which itself is a fine piece of art-work and is probably rotting in some printer's basement, long forgotten. REVIEW by Richie Unterberger, allmusic Eric Clapton is usually thought of as John Mayall's most important right-hand man, but the case could also be made for his successor, Peter Green. The future Fleetwood Mac founder leaves a strong stamp on his only album with the Bluesbreakers, singing a few tracks and writing a couple, including the devastating instrumental "Supernatural." Green's use of thick sustain on this track clearly pointed the way to his use of guitar riffs with elongated, slithery tones on Fleetwood Mac's "Albatross" and "Black Magic Woman," as well as anticipating some aspects of Carlos Santana's style. Mayall acquits himself fairly well on this mostly original set (with occasional guest horns), though some of the material is fairly mundane. Highlights include the uncharacteristically rambunctious "Leaping Christine" and the cover of Freddie King's "Someday After a While (You'll Be Sorry)."
