On this day in 1982, the Toto LP “Toto IV” debuted on the Billboard 200 Album Chart at #138 (April 24) This was the final album with the original Toto lineup… Bass player David Hungate, who moved to Nashville during the recording of the album, left the band to spend more time with his family, and two years later, prior to beginning recording of their follow-up album, singer Bobby Kimball left the band, only to re-join in 1998. This was a massive album for the band, topping the charts in Australia, the Netherlands and Canada, and peaking at #2 in Norway, #3 in Japan, #4 in the US and the UK, #9 in New Zealand, #12 in Germany, #16 in France, and #17 in Sweden. “Toto IV” received three Grammy Awards in 1983 including Album of the Year, Producer of the Year for the band, and Record of the Year for "Rosanna". The lead single, "Rosanna", peaked at #2 for five weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 charts, while the album's third single, "Africa", topping the Hot 100 chart, became the group's first and only US #1 hit.
